Banking In The Right Direction

Southern State Bank evolved from an organization formed in 1959 known as Southern Credit Corporation. Southern Credit Corporation was located at 226 Olive Street and operated very successfully as a limited service financial institution offering saving accounts and time deposits, while lending predominately on real estate.

On December 31, 1992, Southern Credit Corporation was converted to a state-chartered bank. In October 1995, the Bank moved from its 226 Olive Street location to its present location at 521 East Page Avenue.

With expansion and renovation of its present site, Southern State Bank now offers a full array of banking services. These services include checking and savings accounts, certificates of deposit, retirement accounts, debit cards, ATM services, safe-deposit boxes, online banking, and all types of consumer, business and fixed rate loans.

Southern State Bank has expanded to provide better customer convenience, with branches located in the Rockport and Haskell communities. Our long term commitment is to remain a customer and community oriented financial services provider with an emphasis on personal service and flexibility to meet the unique needs of customers.

In keeping with our philosophy of providing superior personal service with a wide variety of products and services to make your banking experience easier and more enjoyable, we have entered into a relationship with Farmers Bank & Trust Company of Magnolia.  On February 8, 2008, Southern State Bank became a division of Farmers Bank and Trust Company of Magnolia.  Farmers Bank is a $500 million bank operating for over 100 years in Columbia and Ouachita counties.  Southern State Bank is pleased to become a part of Farmers Bank, a relationship which will enable us to offer new opportunities to serve our customers. Southern State’s new name will be Southern State Bank, a Division of Farmers Bank & Trust Company.
